Prerequisites:
In order to become accredited, an individual must first be an Affiliate or Associate Member of IAAE Canada. Affiliate Membership is only open to individuals whom have active responsibility for the management, operation or administration of an airport/aerodrome in Canada.
Prospective accreditation candidates must be:
- 21 years of age;
- A current affiliate member of IAAE Canada;
- Have one full year of airport management experience;
- Possess a university degree, college diploma, or have eight years of Canadian airport experience. Candidates may substitute airport experience in lieu of university/college on a two-for-one basis.
The Process:
Successfully pass the multiple choice Accreditation exam based on the IAAE Canada Body of Knowledge, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and other airport documents. A 1-week Accreditation Academy is offered to review the relevant material and to write the exam. The exam without the academy can be challenged, provided an approved proctor is available.
After the candidate has successfully completed the program requirements he or she becomes a “Certified Member” and the member is allowed the use of the C.M. designation after their name. (This is as far in the process an Associate Member can go.) For fee structure click here.
Procedure:
Affiliate Candidates may complete either the management research paper or the written examination first. The final phase is the interview and oral examination with the Board of Examiners. Candidates are given three years to complete the program.
