Greetings,
As you read this, Tom is at SWIFT, along with 550 others from airports across the country. This is a record attendance for them and its first time being held in Montreal. Day one has included a lot of good topics, from training (which is near and dear to our hearts) to runway resurfacing & construction, FOD, Incursions, Safety and of course Snow. Tuesday sees the trade show swing into action and this year it is an equipment year, so all the big toys are on display. This part of the show is being held at the Trudeau Airport and many are keen to see their state of the art area. Already there is talk of next year which is being held in Banff, Alberta, what a venue that will be. We still have a couple more days in Montreal to do some networking and talk about training. As you can see by the training list below, its Fall and many of these courses can benefit from your people attending. Imagine how much your people will benefit too!

The Lighter Side of Aviation...

Airport Definitions: PRE-BOARD Passenger who arrives at the gate five minutes before departure. GROUP A large loud pack of passengers (see passenger) travelling together. The group leader, who has the tickets, usually waits in the bar until the required pre-board time of five minutes before departure, or until there are no seats left together, whichever occurs last. Reservation agents are prohibited from pre-assigning seats to groups as this may convenience them. SIGN An airport decoration. Usually unnoticed except by small children. Its primary function is to hide the location of various areas of the airport, i.e., gate numbers, rest rooms, baggage claim, etc. POSITION CLOSED This is a sign posted at various counter locations, which when interpreted by the passenger says, "Form line here."

Association Update
Earlier we mentioned training was discussed at SWIFT, it seems to be a hot topic all over. IAAE Canada is about to load a new addition to our On-line Training, we'll keep you posted. We have also just posted a new TP312 course to be held in Edmonton next month, don't miss out. Did you notice the Human Factors for SMS at Thompson Manitoba? There is room for you there and a hot cup of coffee I hear too. North Bay airport wants to host an Airfield Lighting Maintenance Course next spring, if you or one of your people would be interested in attending, let us know by sending us an email. Of course if you want a different course let us know. We are always looking to improve the course offerings we have, but your input is vital. The movie Field of Dreams said if you build it they will come, that is also true of IAAE Canada training, if you let us know what you need, we will coordinate it.
