How IAAE Canada Came About
In the early 1990s, AAAE determined that, in order to effectively address the challenges of managing airports in a global economy, there was a need for advanced airport management education and professional development worldwide—a need for a membership organization for individuals in airport management outside the United States.
To respond to that need, AAAE's commitment to professional excellence and the AAAE accreditation program went international through the creation in 1992 of the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE), an affiliated AAAE organization.
In 1994 IAAE Canada was formed in the interest of serving Canadian Airport Managers and personnel. It grew so well that in 2000 we incorporated as the International Association of Airport Executives Canada (IAAE Canada) and still continues to grow to this day. Membership in IAAE Canada is for individuals not airports and it places equal emphasis on the employees and operators of large and small airport concerns, reflecting a membership comprised of executives from large and medium size airports, as well as hundreds of managers from smaller airports used by general and commercial aviation.
IAAE Canada's primary goal is to assist airport executives in fulfilling their responsibilities to the airports and communities they serve, by personal development and training.
