Michael Lucking is the Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Administration at the Region of Waterloo International Airport (CYKF).

With over twenty years of progressive experience focused in the field of regulatory compliance for Canadian airports, Mike is passionate about helping airports understand and apply regulations and standards, particularly TP312 and SMS.

As a former Transport Canada Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, Aerodromes and Air Navigation, Mike has many years of extensive real-world experience in the evaluation of compliance with multiple Editions of TP312, as well as first-hand experience in he provision of regulatory interpretations related to the CARs and TP312. Following is time with Transport Canada, Mike worked in the private sector, leading and participating in dozens of quality assurance audits and focused TP312 gap analyses and compliance inspection for airport large and small across the country.

Mike is familiar with differences between versions of TP312, and also the nuances of standards, particularly how a single word, comme, or intentional us of a slash "I" can change the meaning of a standard.

Most of all, Mike feels fortunate to have received incredible mentorship from dedicated TP312 experts, and he wants to take every opportunity to create a better understanding of TP312 amongst the airport community in Canada.

Course Description:

This course is delivered via instructor led virtual presentations and interactive discussions. Participants will receive a high-level introduction to TP312 5th Edition that will help them to navigate the standard and find the information they need to achieve and maintain compliance.

Upon completion, participants will have a better understanding of how the standards apply to their airport and will recognize how 5th Edition is different from its predecessors. They will come away with a stronger sense of how to navigate the document and find the information needed to support day-to-day operations.
