Canadian Aviation Holiday Spirit

I enjoyed the opening of the E-Report today (Dec 24/13). Reminded me of when I was APM in Sandspit (YZP). On Christmas Eve, I would take a van load of three to eight year olds out on the runway and radio Terrace (YXT) since we were Remote Controlled via Terrace. I'd ask if there was any sign of "disturbance" coming out of the North and it never mattered what Flight Service Specialist was on, there would be a little silence, a bit of humming and then "Wait... I do have something just off the Spit!" The FSS and I would do elaborate triangulations and sure enough, one of the kids would "see something". The van would break into a roar and that was followed by questions, "Why isn't he coming down?”, "Why is he so high up there?" After I while I got pretty good with answers such as "He starts south of us and works his way home."or,"He has to stay out of aircraft flight paths".

I honestly don't know who had more fun, me, the FSS who heard everything on the open mike, or the kids.
