The IAAE Canada Body of Knowledge is the foundation of our Accreditation Program. Developed and maintained by experienced airport professionals serving on the Accreditation Committee and Body of Knowledge Committee, this proprietary body of knowledge defines the competencies expected of well-rounded airport professionals and is regularly reviewed to reflect the evolving needs of Canada's airport industry.

The Body of Knowledge informs every stage of the accreditation journey. Candidates pursuing accreditation receive access to the Body of Knowledge as part of the program and use it to guide their studies from start to finish. They first demonstrate their understanding by successfully completing the Certified Member (C.M.) examination. They then apply that knowledge through a written component, choosing to complete an industry presentation, case study or management research paper. Finally, candidates participate in a rigorous panel interview with three members of the Board of Examiners, who assess not only their knowledge, but their ability to apply it in real-world airport environments.

The Body of Knowledge is organized into five core competency areas:

Together, these competencies help ensure every accredited member has demonstrated a broad understanding of airport management and the professional knowledge required to lead and support Canada's airports with confidence.
